What are the job opportunities for truck drivers in Canada? If you are looking for international truck driving jobs then Canada is a pretty good bet at the moment, particularly for long-haul truck drivers. Although the trucking industry has been hit by the worldwide recession, there are signs of improvement and a quick Google search for ‘truck driving jobs Canada’ will return an impressive amount of results. The following information is aimed at those trying to get a Work Permit for a trucking job in Canada, residency and visa issues will be covered in other articles as they are not immediately relevant. Who can apply for truck driving jobs in Canada? In order to get a Work Permit, you first of all need the work, and this of course involves applying for trucking jobs or approaching companies with your Resume or Curriculum Vitae ( CV). Firstly you will need to ascertain whether or not you are eligible to apply for a truck driving job in Canada. Employment requirements for truck driving jobs in Canada: Completion of secondary school is usually required. On-the-job training is provided. A Class D licence is required to drive straight trucks. A Class A licence is required to drive articulated trucks. Air brake endorsement ( Z) is required for drivers who operate vehicles equipped with air brakes.
